Radiation won't go away at all on it's own, and the effects of alcohol have been severely nerfed to the point that you need to drink a whole barrel of vodka every time you even dip your toe in a puddle of death. At start you won't have a geiger counter, so you won't know if your irradiated, that is, until you go to sleep, because if you do have any rads, even one, you'll just die in your sleep. It adds all kinds of different conditions that slowly saps your HP away, but no indication whatsoever if you're affected by it.

I do love minimalism and immersion, but Dead Air takes it way overboard. The other big issue is the HUD, or rather the lack of it. If you're a masochist, you'll probably enjoy it, but otherwise you'll find it an exercise in frustration. Anything you take of a dead stalker is going to break in two more shots, if they drop their gun at all (I swear I have had this happen where stalkers carry a pistol that disintegrates upon their death!). Except that you don't get the guns the description promises you, so you only get a knife, start off in Cordon, Sidorovich nor any of the stalkers don't sell guns because of the law, and it's chock full of dogs. I'd say wait until it gets fixed, if ever, or you'll need to extensively tweak it yourself to make it playable.Ĭurrently, you get to pick a loadout at start, that comes with gear and guns.
